This is a traditional carrier from Indonesia. They are sturdy, durable cloths, made for frequent use.
The women in Indonesia use the cloth day in day out during their work on the land. There is no time to let the baby sleep in its crib. Thats why they wrap the baby on the back during work. The cloth therefore has to be sturdy.
The 2 ends of the cloth are sewn together for use as a Sarong. Just unpick the sewing and you will have a cloth wich you can use for babywearing. Either it stays the way it is or you can sew in some rings and it becomes a Ring Sling.
Measurements are 1.10 mtr at 1.90 mtr. The Selendang needs a washing before using. It shrinks slightly.
